Nestled in the Upstate of South Carolina, Greer is surrounded by the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. Greer is located in both Greenville and Spartanburg counties, in the Northwest corner of South Carolina, conveniently located between Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina. The area, commonly referred to as the Upstate, includes Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Pickens, and Cherokee counties and the cities of Anderson, Clemson, Greenville, Simpsonville, Greer, and Spartanburg.

Greer is one of the fastest growing cities, with residents in both Greenville and Spartanburg County. Approximately 25,515 live within Greer’s city limits.



Greer offers a variety of housing options within traditional neighborhoods, historic districts, new construction, or right in the heart of a bustling downtown.



Greer’s moderate climate offers a full change of seasons, an average annual temperature of 62° F, and mild weather throughout most of the year. July is typically the warmest month and on average, January is the coolest. Greer has milder summers when compared to other areas of the south.



Greer belongs to Greenville County Schools, the largest public school system in South Carolina, and the 45th largest public school system in the US.

Health Care

Greer Memorial Hospital received a 5-star hospital rating for infection control and clinical quality, and the Women’s Choice Award. In 2016 Greer Memorial Hospital achieved Magnet recognition, in regards to the level of nursing professionalism that translates to both patient and staff satisfaction, and care for patients.

Pelham Medical Center is a part of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and has been serving the community since 2008. In 2016 and 2017, Pelham Medical Center was awarded Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work.



Greer does not currently offer public bus routes for transportation.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP): Located just 13 minutes from downtown Greer, GSP has been rated one of the most desirable airports in the country in terms of convenience, easy access, smaller crowds, and nearby parking. More than 1.8 million passengers a year are served by six major airlines offering 49 non-stop average daily departures to 15 major cities and 18 airports across the US.


Amtrack: Amtrak provides passenger rail service with connections to several major cities, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Birmingham, Charlotte, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington.


South Carolina Inland Port: located in Greer extending 212 miles from the Port of Charleston inland. This port is used by BMW, Michelin and other international manufacturers.



The Greer Jean M. Smith library branch is a part of the Greenville County Library System.


Recreation (Indoor & Outdoor)

Greer’s recreation facilities offers youth and adult sports, a large variety of programs such as after school programs, summer camps and even a dog obedience program.

Greer offers outdoor activities for all ages. Enjoy golfing, hiking, or being on Lake Robinson or Lake Cunningham. The 12-acre Greer City Park features an amphitheater, playgrounds, and fountain.



There is a community master plan to create and connect bike paths all across Greer to enhance Greer City Park, Century Park and Greer Station. There is also hope to connect these trail eventually to Greenville’s Swamp Rabbit Trail.


Arts & Entertainment

The City of Greer Events Center features a 500-seat outdoor amphitheater that frequently hosts concerts and events. Take a class or watch a show at the Greer Cultural Arts Council, perfect for all ages! The Greer Station is the place to be for movies in the park, music, food trucks, and family friendly events all year long. Stop in at the Greer Heritage Museum and get a glimpse at Greer’s incredible history.


Economic Profile

The only BMW manufacturing facility in North America resides in Greer. Other major businesses in Greer are: Honeywell Aerospace, Mitsubishi Polyester Film, and Michelin headquarters.
